The “Ole Colborne School” provides space and facility for local food suppliers who wish to offer “Traditional Food”. This is meant to appeal to health conscious consumers who wish to purchase local foods, fresh, and non-GMO based foods. This may include free range or grass fed meats, organic practices, and where available, certified organic produce. The word “traditional” is meant to convey healthy food practices which discourage use of hormones, chemicals and use of anti-biotics which are presently employed on modern farms. The food experience offered at the Traditional Food Hub includes enjoyment of healthy local foods and an educational experience in buying foods in season to reduce consumer food costs.
The teaching of traditional food practices to preserve food items over the winter seasons, would have economic and health benefits for consumers to make practical good food choices. This two pronged approach is meant to make available healthy food choices that are affordable to everyone.
